History of Cancer Care Western NSW Inc. and the Western Care Lodge

Cancer Care Western Inc. began to lobby for cancer services for Central and Western NSW in 2006. Since then Cancer Care Western NSW Inc. has gone on to raise millions of dollars, build and maintain the Western Care Lodge and provide vital funds for Clinical Cancer Trials.

March 2007 Cancer Care Western NSW Incorporated. Registered as a charity with our appeal launched in June 2007.
July 2008 In principle approval for the allocation of land at the Orange Hospital site
March 2009 Cancer Council donates $500,000 from 2009 and 2010 Relay for Life events
May 2009 First Cruisin’ Along Fund Drive occurs – raised more than $300,000.00 to date Federal Government donates $1.3 million
October 2009 Australian Government allocates funds under the job incentive programme and Orange City Council offer in kind managerial services.
November 2009 John Blackwood Architect Orange awarded project for the construction of Western Care Lodge
September 2010 Hansen and Yuncken awarded tender for the build of Western Care Lodge
September 2011 Western Care Lodge Stage One completed
November 2011 Lodge received first guests
January 2012 Fund Raising commences for build of additional 8 units
February 2013 Second Linear Accelerator for Cancer Treatment installed at Orange Health Services
May 2013 Tender advertised for construction of additional 8 units
July 2013 The construction of an additional 8 twin ensuite rooms commenced in July 2013
 January 2014 New rooms are completed. Stage Two of Lodge officially opened by Orange Mayor John Davis O.A.M.
 February 2015 Fundraising commences for establishment for Clinical Cancer Trials at Central West Cancer Services, Orange
